A post a few weeks ago suggested that there was a streak of production with chain sprockets with improper heat treat, or perhaps the material was wrong and it was not heat treatable. Seems like a valid explaination but...
But I assume that these same bits go into the 2.3 and 2.0T engines, so that does not explain why the 2.3's are having most of such problems. There have been some 2.0T issues like this, but they are relatively uncommon.
search and read drs<underscore>lub for my thoughts and suspicions.
