The ones that I am most familiar with are the Konis. Their adjustability has won me over. I found that they improved handling but actually hurt it on bump roads if set to a rather stiff setting. I keep them 1/4 stiff. They would essentially pump the springs when set stiffly. I'm assuming that the other shocks/dampers listed may do that as well and you won't have the adjustability.
They improve the handling but I don't think you're going to get the effect that you want.
The steering will be more precise with Abbott's Viggen Rescue Pack. A stiffer rear swaybar will keep the car from wanting to go to the non-banked sides of banked roads and is the best handling $$ spent. If you're replacing dampers, do the springs at the same time. Stiffer front springs will help steering feel as well.
I tried to be fast and just hit the basics here so sorry if I overlooked some info. Also, I'm thinking from a 9-3 owner's perspective so keep that in mind. Hope it helps.
I'm running stock springs, Koni sport dampers, most of the VRK except the subframe brace, and a stiffer rear swaybar. The car handles nicely and even though it's still not a "track" car, I can stick to a BMW 325s rear like glue through the twisties and then pass it on the straight if I feel so inclined.
