My car has a "looseness", an extra lurch or a feeling similar to "rubberbanding" when the load on the engine changes from decel to accel or vice-versa. No clunks it just feels loose. It could just be wear in the drivetrain: a little extra looseness in the trans plus some wear in any or all 4 of the cv joints plus old trans/engine mounts. I'm not going to replace all of that stuff unless something fails, but if replacing a couple of the mounts helps then I might go ahead and replace 'em.
I don't have any of the on/off throttle clunks that people usually mention before changing mounts.
thanks, Mike
