I have Michelin Pilots on my 93 900.
They're ok, but very poor in wet and slick weather and are pretty harsh on bumps (which is surprising b/c they are H rated and the RS-A's are Z) compared to my RS-A's. I think my RS-A's are much quieter than the Pilots too.
I can't speak to the Tirerack's rating b/c I have been very happy with the RS-A's, and I've had quite a few types of tires on my Saabs over the years. Sometimes I think that their ratings are a little unrealistic for snow/ice performance b/c they expect an all season tire to perform to the standards of a dedicated snow tire, which will NEVER happen. I've had 2 sets of Nokia Hakkapallita NRW's which are supposedly an "all season" snow tire, but they were constantly out of balance and had strange wear patterns, and wore out far before the 40K rating....but they were awesome in the snow.
My point is that an all season tire that leans towards a summer tire (Pilot, RS-A, RE730, etc) is probably the best b/c the all season tire that leans towards a snow tire (Nokia NRW) will not be that great 8 months out of the year.
Despite the rating, I think that the RSA is better than the Pilot.
