the mpg drop seems to be year round Posted by MJM [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: repl. oxygen sensor, Dean, Mon, 6 May 2002 18:14:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
although every now and then I'll still get ~32 on a road trip, at least as long as I'm travelling on posted 55mph roads. My normal weekly routine used to return 23-24, now I baby it to get 21. During the winter when the car had a hard time warming up it was in the teens. Might also just be the car getting older.
Yup, still have the stock exhaust. I've been hesitant to get the sport because more noise is the last thing this car needs. The RE730's drown out all conversation at 28-35 mph and 55-60, and above 60 the wind noise does the same.
I hate to throw large amounts of money at the car at this point. I'll keep it as long as it's cheaper to run than payments on something newer and more fun. 400 bucks worth of exhaust, ~100 bucks worth of O2 sensor, ~400 bucks worth of new tires and 700 bucks worth of front lower control arms ("needs" list) are sounding kind of steep. Oh yeah, I'm also on the original DIC ($300) and water pump ($50+labor) and it might be time to replace those as well. As usual, I have almost no time to put in to this beast, maybe an hour here and there.
