Continuous Shuddering

My 900S 2.3L non-turbo auto (97K) shudders when shifting from park to reverse or from neutral to R or D. It lasts about 2-3 seconds and then smooths out. I have talked to many techs about it and they shrug and say they all do it, not much you can do about it. So I have been living with it.

The shuddering now has started to exhibit a continuous nature. I shift into gear and it shudders non-stop until I shift back to neutral. It feels exactly like it is running on 3 cylinders but as soon as I shift into neutral it clears up. Once it has had it's "fit" I can then shift into D and drive away smooth as silk.

Can't help but feel I have a deteriorating problem here, anyone seen this before ?
