Changing Struts in 2 weeks, new top mounts too? (long)

Hi all.
I've heard lots of talk here about bad top mounts/bushings over the past months, but it never really applied to me so I tended to skip such messages. Well, I'm getting my shocks/struts changed in 2 weeks because I have 125,000 miles and i don't think they have ever been changed. They feel stiffish, not bouncy bouncy, like I thought worn shocks are supposed to feel, but at 125k, is it safe to say I'm not wasting money for no reason on new struts? I would think so, but they are not a broken/not broken type item so it's always a little hard to say.
I've heard some of you say, while your at it you SHOULD have them change the top mounts. Is this NECESSARY if they seals/mounts do not KNOCK over bumps or have excessive lateral movement? I've put in a lot of money recently into the car, and have to stop if it all possible, TireRack has KYB mounts for $100/pair but if I don't NEED em, I don't want to unless you guys say, you WILL spend that money and then some to have it done in the future, in which case penny wise pound foolish right?
Thanks for clarifying.
Tom.
