The answer is that the 215/50/16 would be SLIGHTLY closer to your speedo if you're currently on 205/50/16s.
Quesion though....why would you do this? There are far fewer tires available in those sizes. The 215/45 sidewall would be unsuitable for city streets (potholes). The 215/50 would offer slightly more protection, but a) might rub, and b) there are so few tire options.
Some people on this board (not me) have used the 205/55/16 tire size w/o rubbing. They would offer more protection than the 205/50, many tire options available, but theoretically w/a slight tradeoff in performance (I doubt any, but the most discerning driver, would be able to tell the difference).
