Not sure what year/model car you have, but if you're in the correct forum (NG 900), then the stock sizes for your car are either a 200/50/16 or a 195/60/15. This is what my owners manual says. It's also what Tirerack web-site says. I don't know where you got the 205/55/15 number. It might work, but it's an odd-sized tire that will be slightly off on your speedometer, might rub, and will not offer as good pothole protection.
If, as you say, your primary concern is protection from potholes, then get the 195/60/15 size. There are a number of good, inexpensive all-season tires in that size...most notably the Dunlop SP Sport A2, which has gotten terrific reviews.
No opinion on the rims...
