Hey Michael P --> got your note on 9-3 board...interesting that your car and my former car are suffering same pains...thanks for the Shrader valve follow-up...Now would you believe I had the dealer replace the oil pan!?!
My advice, don't do it. The pan is does not have a gasket, but rather a sealant. Dealer indicated that pan removal requires breaking the sealant, and likely, the pan as well when you wack it free from that sealant. I did it regardless, being a garage floor oil "nazi" (Seinfeld reference intended), and of course the pan broke. I think it was a ridiculous $475 or something for a pan, and with labor a $600 + repair. Moral of the story...the valve cover gaskets leaked relentlessly anyway, and in hindsight it could have even been they were giving the appearance of a pan leak. Also, mechanic noted that the balancer seal (?) was leaking too. Either way, it didn't solve my problem (oil on the floor), and other repairs were required shortly thereafter (A/C failed again, coolant leak, etc.). With that engine, in hindsight, I'd have been better to live with the daily 50 cent size pools of oil.
