1st thing is to look in your handbook. In the radio section it describes how to punch in the code yourself. No mechanic required.
As far as the display fault is concerned, I have been unable to find any specific info for the SAAB radio. But as a former audio engineer I know of 2 different systems that coded car radios are protected with.
1st one will lock the car radio out against any code entry for an ever increasing time. Only after that time has expired, can you type in the code again. SO get it wrong on a Volvo 340 car radio, and it can lock you out for 24 hours!
2nd one requires a "reboot".
Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, and connect up again.
If nobody has a better solution, call CLARION. It's a Clarion system, and their technical guys would be better placed to know than the SAAB guys. Previous experience with them on a CD problem...
