Blue Book, Kelly's, NADA are all wildly optimistic. The only thing dealers use those books for is to convince people to pay high prices. When they buy they used the Black Book wholesale guide (which is only available to dealers), which averages auction prices cars are bringing across the country. As an example, a '97 900S 5 door has a wholesale value of $6,825 and an SE is $7,900 plus $250 for a sunroof and a deduct of $500 for a 5 speed and $350 if it's not leather. Retail is $8,850 S/$10,025 SE plus or minus, and then there's a mileage chart that adds or subtracts based on 12,000 a year as the average. It's further complicated by the fact certain cars bring more in other parts of the country. On the east coast where you live, they tend to bring a lot more than they do in other parts of the country. I'm a dealer and a Saab lover, but the truth is I don't buy a lot of Saabs to resell because they tend to be slow movers. In addition business is really slow lately which also effects private sales. The only thing I can suggest is to slowly lower your price until you start getting results. I recently sold my personal 9000 when I finally priced it low enough (and lower than I thought it was worth). It sold the first day the ad came out and they didn't haggle on the price. I may have sold it too cheaply. There is a number out there that will get people knocking on your door, but the real question is if you're willing to sell it for that. Good luck.
