I'm not sure what you are experiencing in your car, but my 1996 900SET was getting harder and harder to drive because the peddle was becoming very stiff. On hot days in traffic the car was hard to put in gear. This was not caused by cable adjustment as I tried to adjust for that.
I bought a clutch from one of the suppliers that advertises on this site and I'm very pleased as the clutch is OEM Sachs and it came with the clutch, pressure plate and thoughout bearing. There are others out there, but be careful on what you buy and what you are looking for (and how you intend to use the car). There are clutches out there that may perform better but may give up life or have increased clamping forces (I drive the car spirited, but my wife also drives the car so I didn't stray from the original). I could not find the receipt, but I know it was lots less than the dealer. I also replaced the clutch cable at the same time and this is because is stretches as the clutch is more difficult to push (I have also heard that the teflon liner wears out).
My clutch is now a dream and is nothing like the old one. I have about 80K on the car and several thousand on the new clutch with no complaints.
Hope this helps.
