I don't think that the horn sound can be changed to a chirp, but it can be programmed to be a shorter or longer (in milliseconds) honk....a very short honk may be similar to a chirp. You can also shut it off completely, as well as also program how long and how many times the lights flash on arm/disarm/trunk open. To me a chirp/honk says "cheap aftermarket alarm", so I turned my honk off and set a 1 sec single light flash on arm, 2.5 sec steady light on disarm, and a 5 sec steady on trunk opening. The trunk 5 sec is awesome b/c the rear turn signals light your way for 5 sec as you open the trunk hatch. But suit yourself.

All of these programmings require the Saab TECHII diagnostic computer to communicate with the alarm brain and lighting unit. All dealers have this and Saab-only independents will too....you can't do business with Saabs without one these days.

Talk them into letting you stand there as they program it so you can see all the options, etc and choose what you want. That's what I did.

If 98's have DRL's too, not a bad time to program them "off" if you don't like them at the same time.
