The 850 T5 has 222hp stock and runs rather low boost. Raising the boost will allow for 270 hp, which is my confort level for the MBC. This is only a 18% increase in the power output. There are others out there that have cranked them up to 285hp in the T5 engine, but that makes me a little nervous without other modifications. The engine is very responsive to modifications. Stock intake is non-restrictive and the exaust flows rather well. There are claims out there that the MBC can add up to 30% more power, although I am leary of these claims.

If you are not a beleiver, log onto Swedespeed, T5UK, VolvoSpeed, VolvoSpeed, VolvoTuning or Turbo Bricks. The MBC is one of the most popular little toys for getting more from the T5 engine. This is a rather hot setup and I can provide you with a link to a person running this and a few other goodies on a caravan and runs 13's in the 1/4 mile (yes, a minivan).

I agree with you on the 740, that engine is more difficult to extract power from as it is a very dated design and was not built with "performance" in mind.
