Did the oil change and installed the super magnet drain plug. These come with a fiber washer that will last a very long time. However, as someone found out for them selves, the first time that you use a fiber washer it will compress. These need to be torqued down quite hard. I let the engine get hot and then backed it off and tighened again.

I put the magnetic snake into the sump, the one that I made a few weeks ago. No great amount of magnetic stiff. Perhaps 3 or 5 .005 to .010 particles were retrieved. Plus one larger piece that resembled a piece of metal that a drill tip would push out when a drill pushes through a back side of steel being drilled. It was around 5/32 in diameter, roughly round. So I feel comfortable thinking that I don't have a mess of chain chunks in the bottom of the rump. I was not able to sweep the RH end of the sump. It was messy as oil would come out with the probe and down my arm. So it looks like a one time effort. Next oil change I will see what the supper magnet drain plug has captured. Later to day I will see whats on the plug of the 97 Passat TDI.

I made a brazed copper adapter to go between the TB and idle air control valve yesterday. I will try to install that today and put in the small blowoff valve in that will be converted to be a popoff valve to blow off pressure overshoots. This should allow me to get closer to the fuel cut pressure without triggering fuel cuts. But next winter will be the big test. Right now I have the MBC connected to above the trottle plate and with the Viggen IC and the warmer temperatures the fuel cut issue seems under control.

The adapter has a 3/4" copper tee with a 45 degree street fitting with all of the connecting bits cut short to keep the package as compact as possible. A 1/4 brass barb in also brazed in to be my pressure source. So it has four ends to it. The 3/4" ends are terminate with thin slices of the female coupler ends that were cut short, these are brazed on to greate retention beads. More later. 7/8" reenforced black rubber hose from the hardware store will couple everything together, rated for 125 psi.
