interesting story

Here is a story you might get a kick from.
I have a 97 SE Turbo with just about 60,000 miles. The car has been maintained in a perfect condition until about 3 weeks ago. It started to stall on idling, especially after re-fueling (No CE light !). In-between fueling, and after it has run about 15-20 miles, it was OK. I followed the experience in several postings on this board: added Techron and call the dealer for a diagnostic appointment. I was aware of the problem with DI cartridges and was thinking of ordering one on the internet (address I got from this BB, price $275.00). However, the car was running fine and I thought Techron solved the problem. I still took to the dealer (he gave me a loaner, as usual). That day, the car actually stalled on the highway (first time), and I felt unsafe.
At the end of the day, the dealer called me back, saying that the car is misfiring badly and that the CE light came on-- meaning that the car is no longer drivable. He ended up changing the DI cartridge and the spark plugs, as well as "cleaning the throttle body". The car is back to normal (so far). Here is the gist of the story: the cost was $699 (cartrige $375, 3.5 hours of labor at $80/h, I am not sure he did anything to the throttle body).
I thought this would be intersting, with all the similar stalling stories posted on this board. I could easily have done the same job for half the cost, had the car not "died" at the dealer's.
