Let me answer with:
The "M" or "V" pattern on Tech 2 and your reply:
"but that can't be used to judge a DI cassette"
is absolutely false.
I had a condition on my 1998 900SET that was a spark knock/misfire. The dealer looked at it(DI) TWO TIMES, and like Mattias.se above, said everything was fine. Can't find any problem. I knew they were lost.
Wanted me to make a THIRD appointment to "dig into it over a couple days".
I contacted my friend at SAAB --the company, NOT the dealership --who is considered to be one of ---if not THE top ---instructor/troubleshooter in the SAAB organization, then instructed me to do what I have oulined. The result was the "mmmm" shaped grahp instead of the "vvvvv" shaped graph. Snap the throttle a couple times and it was still "mmmmm".
The DI was replaced. Tech2 's graph immediately became "vvvvvv". MY spark knock/misfire condition ceased.
Go figure.
Now you say it can't be used to judge a DI cassette ?
