If you really have that much water on the garage floor, I suspect that you had ice buildup around the condenser. This should normally not happen since the A/C system should not allow the condenser to get that cold. Maybe a fault in a temp sensor? It's also possible that this could happen if the A/C was on but you left the fan speed at "0" or "1" so that the air flow was too slow, but I doubt it. I always leave the fan speed at "2" if the A/C is on and then I increase the heat setting if it gets too cold in the cabin.
