like most shops do to drain your antifreeze. Pulling the t-stat to flush the engine--- no way.
Blue, pink, yellow, what-have-you. Color is bunk.
"Saab always uses blue coolant" is bunk. Go see a 2002. It has Dex-Cool.
As SAAB is not in the antifreeze business, they bought a coolant that was silicate free, phosphate free, nitrate free, and nitrite free, and by some miracle it was blue in color. So what. MB used the same stuff. So what.
I've been using Texaco's DEX-COOL product --from Target Stores -- since 1996 in my SAABS, without any incident.
1996 900SET, 1991 9000 CD, 1998 900 SET, 1999 9-3 HOT and my 2002 9-3 SE.
Not ONE cooling system issue EVER.
If you can find a purple colored coolant, made by a quality manufacturer, that meets these specs above, then buy it, mix it 50/50 with distilled water and enjoy your car.
