Your shocks are probably loose which allows for underdamped lateral sway. That sway becomes a significant part of dynamic response with lane changes. So with a lane change the lateral rocking also affects the steering. So in a lane change or any manouver where you come out straight, it can seem diffkicult to find what straight is with the lateral dynamics interfering.
I put on the sway bar around a year ago as I was suspicious that the above was what was going on and was not prepared to spend money on shocks because I was in denial and frankly, it is hard to judge shocks on these vehicles with the usual methods. So the SAS really improved my steering dynamics in many ways and that donfirmed my suspicions that the shocks were the root cause. So your observations make perfect sense.
I had the VRK at the time and good performance tires on stock SE rims and springs. I now have the Koni's and new upper mounts, and replaced the SAS bolts with 10 mm. See my post for details on that drs<underscore>install.
