Chris,
I have owned my 1997 900SET since I picked it up with 24,000 KM or 14,912 Miles. I now have 63,000 KM/39,146 Miles and have personally had very little trouble.
Under Warranty:
Headliner
O2 Sensor
Trip computer (SID)
Driver's side seat relay
...a few other minor inconveniences.
Regular maintenance:
Spark plugs (twice)
Air filter (K&N)
Fuel filter
Oil changes (every 5,000 KM - synthetic)
Replaced original tires (original Michelins had bulge in side - 2)
Snow tires (helps for northern climates)
Brake pads (needed to replace - 62,000 KM)
Brake rotors (wanted to replace)
Cooling system flush
Alignment (twice)
ACC light bulb ($11 CDN - kinda' pricey)
Couple of rear bulbs (brake, etc)
Headlight bulbs
Windshield wipers (twice)
Wheel straightening (once - $250 CDN for 4)
Replaced two pulleys (recently as preventative maintenance)
I've tried to stay ahead of things where possible. Total expenditures I would estimate at about a maximum of $2,000 CDN over the period of ownership so far which is only about $50 USD (no, it's actually about $1,250, and that includes items that you may or may not end up doing).
Hope that gives you some perspective on ownership. It's really worth it when you're driving your SE Turbo and she's in top shape. Hope things work out for you.
Regards,
Theo
