The plugs have a crush washer that will deform the first time and you will feel that as you tighen the plugs. If you remove a plus to inspect or gap, then at you tighten it the torque resistant will come up much more suddenly as the wrench is turned. I never use a torque wrench on plugs and go by feel as many experience folks do. Perhaps use a torque wrench, the use a hand wrench to back off then feel what it is like as you return to the original wrench angle.
Don't use neversieze, it has stuff in it that I would never want near the engine internals. I have often used a good moly (grease) for this.
