Nothing to it.
Disconnect lower rad hose, let coolant run out. Disconnect upper hose. Unscrew two 10mm bolts that hold a rigid line braket to the 'stat cover, then remove two 13mm bolts that hold the cover to the head. Remove the thermostat cover, then remove the thermostat. Reattach the thermostat cover, reattach the hose to it. Insert a garden hose into the upper rad hose, run water. It will come out through the lower hose. Run it until it comes out clear. Then insert the garden hose into the upper radiator inlet, run water until it comes out clear at the bottom. Then flush the expansion tank. Remove thermostat cover, install thermostat (make sure to align holes, position it with bleed hole facing up) and reattach everything. Make sure thermostat cover surface is nice and clean. I used a solvent to clean it up. Don't overtighten the bolts.
After you reattach all the hoses and tighen everything down, you can refill the system with 50/50 solution of antifreeze and distilled water. Fill the expansion tank. At first it takes about a gallon. Start the engine and run it for a few minutes. Turn the heater on max heat. After several minutes, the thermostat will open and you will have to add about a gallon more to the expansion tank. Have a gallon of coolant solution ready ahead of time because once the engine warms up and thermostat opens, you will have to add coolant rather quickly.
That's it. Piece of cake!
