97 900 SET, 60,000 miles.
Last year may AC stopped working, and the dealer changed the "thermal switch" on warranty. It seemed to work fine.
Now I have noticed that the compressor does is on and does not seem to cycle whenever the temperature is in the 90's (like today in the Boston area) and the radiator fan remains on. When the temperature is lower it does seem to cycle. There is no apparent problem with the cooling, as the car does become cold inside. The ACC seems to be working fine since the fan adjusts to the inside temperature. There are no annoying noises from the compressor itself as other have posted on this board.
My question is: Is there another sensor that may need to be replaced and where is it? also where is the thermal switch that the dealer replaced and could they have somehow failed to connect it somewhere?
I am worried that the compressor will work very hard and get damaged so I have been manually shutting it off and on.
Appreciate any information before I take it again to the dealer who charges $80/hr. TIA
