This can really vary by how well stop lights are sequenced and by your driving style and traffic condtions. I expect that 18 to 22 would be reasonable for many folks.

Your highway mpgs at steady speed, after warming up, clearing/reseting the SID is the best measure of how things are going because so many other variables are eliminated. This is the most repeatable measure that you have. You should know what the baseline for this is to detect future problems, or improvements.

Tires with soft pressure can hurt mpg's as well as dragging brakes. The rear brake pads are prone to getting rust bound in the caliper slots. Especially the inboard ones. Removal of the pads, scraping out rust and lubrcating the pad edges and slot surfaces with a high temp brake component grease is preventative maintenance * . The dealers do not do this, they will replace your pads and rotors when the condtion goes steel on steel. The calipers and rotors need to be removed to allow for cleaning and lubrication of the P-brake mechanism. These can drag too. Any need to adjust the P-brake is a danger sign that the brakes are dragging. The fact that the P-brake can be adjusted does not mean that this is a normal thing to do. The P-brakes get zero wear if they are working properly. They should outlast the vehicle.

(* grease things that you want to protect from rust, lithium based greases have the best water resistance, whese will appear to be white or yellowish)

Other things can have an impact such as dirty injectors, but such usualy shows up as hard starting. Bad plugs, dirty injectors and heavy combustion chamber depostits will reduce mpg's as the ECU adapts with d-tuned ignition timing.

Good fully synthetic oils will improve mpg's. And the W40's can produce better mpg's than the W30's sometimes. Thin oils are not neccessarily energy conserving. Not all syntheic oils in the US and Canada are true synthetics. Castrol (FakeTec tm) synthetics are group III highly hydrocracked dyno oil. In Europe they cannot label that product as synthetic. I guess they can here because its a freedom of speach thing or a lie, haven't figured out which yet...
