Yes a full synthetic. Mobil One might be quite exotic there.
We have a problem in the US and Canada where group III, highly cydrocracked mineral oils are labled and sold at full sysntheics. Mobil One is a true syntheic oil. Castrol sells its group III oil as a full synthetic and makes a killing at it.
I have been under the impression that this practice is not allowed in Europe, but I don't know about that issue in the UK. So you might have to do some research in finding a good full synthetic engine oil.
The 10W30's work well and are very popular in the market here. Heavier oils are much the norm in Europe. I swithed from Mobil One 10W30 to * Delvac One, 5W40, and found that my engine ran quieter, smoother and I got a very significant improvement in fuel economy too. So do try a thicker oil and see how it works for you.
* Delvac is produced by Mobil and is mostly marketed as a heavy duty long life full synthetic diesel engine oil. It is also a great oil for spark ignition engines, but they don't spend any marketing dollars to compete with their own Mobil One. My fuel consumption is up by 6 to 10% which is a huge increase in my mind.
