Your clips are anti rattle clips. Shims go between the pad backing plates and the pistons. They can be loose with holes to go over the pins or be stick on types that adhere to the pads. Some pads will come with such already applied.
Often folks will leave these out as they are hard to get a hold of and the loose ones rust real bad. I tried to get folks interested in a run of these laser cut from stainless steel, but no one took any interest.
If you look at the pistons, you will see that part of them is cut away. This detail has to be indexed properly to operate correctly and to avoid squeal. But I can't see that there is any way that this would ever change unless one did a capliper rebuild. So that is probably not an issue.
Get the pads bedded in and seasoned and see if there is a squeal after that.
