The autoboxes seem to be good at trashing the engine mounts. Prehaps that is what you are hearing.
On a level pavemnet, engine off, in park, hood up, parking brake off. Push/rock the vehicle fore and aft and watch the engine move. Engine on, p-brake set hard, go from 1st to reverse and back again, watch the engine move. If the engine moves a lot, then the mounts are pooped. How much is a lot? The mechanic will know in a few seconds. I can give the concept but you may need anothers eyeballs and opinion.
You want to look at cheaper and simpler things before considering trany work.
If the trany fluid has never been changed, its overdue, especially after 8 years. Check the level of the autobux fluid. Read the owners manual. Looks dark, smells burnt, then the fluid needs to go. But if the maintance is as good as they say it should look good and smell good.
