Adding a CD to stock head unit

Having read numerous posts, I am planning to add a CD to the stock head unit of my 98 SET Talledega.
Clarion UK state the DC628 as the correct unit, it apparently matches the 635 recommended on previous posts.
Some posts have recommended a "divorce" process if you remove a unit, is there a "marriage" process, or do I just hook it up. I would appreciate some comments befroe I shell out my hard earned cash.
Text of mail from Clarion UK below
Laurie,
Thanks for your mail.
The currently available CD changer that is compatible with SOME Saab factory-fitted radios is the model DC628.
Please note that this changer will not work with all types of Saab, especially newer models. To check compatibility we recommend you call the Clarion helpline on (01793) 870 400, who will be pleased to provide a definite answer.
The changer is in stock and can be with you in a couple of working days. It can be ordered by calling (01993) 811 115 during office hours, or online by following the link above.
If you have any further questions, please do get in touch
