I'm having problems with my 1996 Saab 900SE Turbo(63K miles), and I need some advice before taking the car in for service. I'll try to explain the three(3) things that I'm experiencing. Hopefully, you'll have some great advice for me:
[1] On occasion, I start the car (warm or cold), and the idle revs way beyond its norm idle RPM's. It does this randomly, and lasts for about 2-3 minutes, sometimes longer. Once the car has had a few accelerations, the car goes to normal idle.
[2] While accelerating quickly, the car acts like it has a detonation problem, or a loss of power, as if the alternator was disconnected for 1-2 seconds, or the fuel injectors stopped working for a split second. Almost like the car is ready to instantly stall for 1-2 seconds. It stops once I step off pedal, but as soon as I try to accelerate again, same thing happens.
[3] The car idles fine otherwise. And, at slow acceleration, seems to be okay. But once I put my foot into it, the "stalling out" sensation happens again for 1-2 seconds with rapid (instant)decrease in power or acceleration.
How would you diagnose this problem? I'm not at all familiar with Trionic engines to even begin to figure this out? Is it my DI Cassette?
- Thank you. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
