For the same gap, rounded electrodes will have a higher break down voltage at a given level of boost compared to an electrode with sharp corners and edges. So that is where the EVX plugs will have an advantage, as the platinum wire in the ceramic electrode post is very very small and it creates a much more intense voltage stress compared to big electrodes. And the ceramic electrode post does not change or erode away, so the there is no electrode erosion that conributes to the gap enlarging. The only erosion is at the ground electrode. The ground electrodes seem to stand up quite good on these plugs. Perhaps it is a better alloy to serve in a long life plug. But, still there is some gap growth over a year. These plugs stay extremely clean on my 95SET+MBC. I have long felt that fuel in the US made my Saab run better and plugs cleaner than with CDN fuels... as they were in 1995-1997. I am using these plugs that I installed over two years ago.
