Idler pulley going bad or not??

Last night I started my car and the ACC was not working. Also, the ACC panel was out, my power windows/sunroof were out. Brake lights were out but other lights worked. Instruments panel was fine other than ACC.

My initial thought was that there was some type of short but I also noticed a shh-shh sound coming from engine, which made me concerned that the idler pulley may be involved, although I didn't understand why the idler pulley and ACC would be related.

So today I'm thinking that made the compressor blew and it shorted out the ACC and other electronics. I just want to make sure that before I drive it home (I left it where it was last night and got a ride) 30 miles, that i can totally rule out idler pulley. I did look at the belt and pulleys last night and none were seized and the belt was spinning with no significant odor.
