Swapping chains may make you feel better, but they don't act like belts in that respect. They don't randomly break after a certain time interval. Wear in the chain is often accompanied by wear in the sprockets and guides, it's the whole condition together that leads to a failure. (Poor oil pressure can also hasten this.) So, don't discount the sprockets, which is a $$ job; if I remeber my 9000 info, the balance chain failures in that engine were caused by the sprockets, not the chain itself, so changing it wasn't getting at the root problem.
So, the bad news is, if it's really worn, you probably should get the sprockets done, too, which is fairly pricey. The good news is: you don't have a problem, and you might not hear a peep from the chain for 100K more miles than you have now.
Unlike belts, chains will make noise before they fail (sometimes for a long time), and that should be your signal to change it out. Also unlike belts, visual inspection of the chain under the valve cover and the tensioner is going to tell you alot about the chain's condition (as well as the cam sprockets). It's harder to inspect the balance chains, but the same goes for those. Keeping an eye on those things, plus keeping the rest of the engine in good mechanical shape, especially oil control, will pay off in the long run.
