Another good indicator is ....pay attention to the warning lights on the dash in the upper right area. They will only light to half the magnatude of normal when you turn the key to on and sometimes the gas and temp meter wont turn on.
When this happens ... turn the key on and off hard and rapidly till the lights return to normal. In early stages you should be able to start right up and get on with it.
If so .... there is a electrical part held on with 2 screws under the key part. It requires unbolting the shifter from the floor to get at it.
