I have recently purchased Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires for my 96 900SE (my tire size is 205 50-R16) and have been VERY pleased with them. In that size they were $76 each.
You can get the Kumho Ecsta HP4 716 in 195 60-R15 for $37 each from Tirerack.com.
In my opinion, these tires are much better than the Gislaveds I had previously and as good as the Michelin Pilots that came on the car (and less than half the price!).
I have experienced little to no hydroplaning and they are directionally very stable (they don't follow contours in the road like the Pilots did). Also, they are very smooth riding but give excellent road feel and traction.
If you decide to get the bigger size tires, you can probably trade in your old rims (if they are alloy) for a set of 4 16 inch recons at the dealer for about $100 each. Or, buy the recons straight out for about $175 each. Or, you can go aftermarket for about the same (or a little more).
