Back in May, I felt like a champ having replaced my two idler pulleys and serpentine belt on my 94 SEt at 90,000 miles, before I had a roadside problem. I was damn lucky to get this far on them. I promised myself I would do this every 50,000 miles or so from now on. Well at 108,000 miles, just after my clutch cable debaucle (see below post) I hear this growing sound from the small tensioner pulley, I shut the car off, grabbed the little pulley and it wobbled sise to side - the bearing is already toast after just 18,000 miles. This is bulls--t! This was aftermarket stuff, and I am not impressed. What gives here? Are "official" Saab parts any better? Most of their stuff is outsourced so I dont really believe it, but...

Now I will take the old pulley, which I saved and installed a new US made bearing in from a local bearing shop ($6.00) and will give it a try (at least I can keep recycling them). I will need a bigger trunk soon for the spare DI cartridge, pulleys and belt and clutch cable not to mention all the tools to install this stuff. Maybe this car shouldn't be going more than 50 miles from home anymore.
