Installing a new one is a bit fussy, just takes longer than you might expect. These are extremely expensive at the dealer. Some of us have spliced in a new one by hacking up a generic.
Get some more details before you attempt to cut and solder in a new on.
These will last well over 100000 miles. Often a bad O2 sensor fault code can be dealt with by checking for resistance from the sensor body to ground. Backing out the old one abit and brighening up the contact faces with some fine wet/dry sandpaper, then reseating, can be a complete cure. Yes, many dealers will install a new one and as its intalled a good ground contact is established.
