1996 900s 5spd, bought at 43k miles, currently 90k miles.

this is a continuation of an earlier thread. essentially, i recently noticed some vibration in the whole car. it seems most pronounced at higher speeds (60+) but when i look for it, i can find it around 40 or so...old thread here: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/NG900/index.html?bID=73902 ... oh, before continuing, i want to thank everyone that posted responses to my original question. great stuff! gave me some stuff to talk to the dealer about...

latest info:
it's been at the garage (saab dealership in harrisburg, pa) for the past two days. they've balanced all 4 tires, checked the rims, checked all suspension parts, replaced the front rotors (said they were a little warped and caused vibration during braking), and rotated the tires all sorts of ways. no improvement.
they then sent the car to a representative of the tires (the tires were put on the car about 9k miles ago...nothing special, dunlops that the dealer recommended). the representative has some machine that can test or balance the tires while simulating driving conditions (hmmm, that's pretty unclear...said it's a road balancing something something machine). they claim that the tires are fine and that the one rim is bent (one rim has had some scrapes for the past 45k+ miles) - so neither of us is buying that one. the dealer said that he is going to order another set of tires and start putting them on to see if it makes a difference.

the saab dealer said that he put the car on the lift and had someone "drive" it...said that he could see some up and down movement in the tire (looking across the tread)...but i guess that's common...i can't imagine that it would be perfectly still...

SO....what to do now? any other suggestions? Does anyone know of a local mechanic that i could try if the dealer can't help me?

i really appreciate your time.
chris
