With a 95SET you will have to do some major work if that work has not been done already. If you are after a '95 because they are going for a modest price, the economics might not be what you expect.
the oem exhaust is carbon steel from the flex pipe back, and the flex pipes don't last for ever, if a Sports exhaust has been fitted, that is stainless steel
the engne rear seals all start to leak, to repair, remove the trany, clutch and flywheel, replace $16 seal, replace the clutch while its out, and the cable for good measure, and why not replace the transy seals too
struts worn out, and the upper mounts and bearings?
early '95s had the '94 control arms and sway bar, many of these were retrofitted in the field, something to know about
make sure the brakes are given a good going over, make sure that all 10 caliper pistons are free and that their boots are intact
test the AC and the different mods
check all of the SID display modes and look for display glitches
owners manual
two remote door lock fobs
look at sight glass on AC, run AC, is the fluid water white or green, color indicates a leak tracer dye, perhaps the problems was fixed, perhaps the AC was charged and the vehicle traded in
get the belt and idler pullies inspected
many alloy rims are bent
Are you getting the 95SET from a dealer?
start the engine yourself from cold, don't let the seller warm it up or bring it to you at the 'front door'. Does it idle smooth all of the time. There will be a turque shudder when the AC compressor and fans cut in, smooth acceleration? boost in 3rd thru 5th gears should get to the start of the red in the boost indicator. If it goes to 40% or higher and runs great, then lucky you, you may have found a previously tuned Saab.
