Have you had the clutch replaced?
As the clutch assembly wear out, the pedal gets harder and harder to operate. And it will put a lot stress onto the clutch wire, and eventually break the clutch wire.
When replacing the clutch, it's very important that the shop knows about the Saab, and remove clutcharm for inspection, cleaning and lubrication with silvergrease.
Clutch fork also needs to be inspected and maybe replaced.
Clutchshaft seal housing ( that also serves as slider for throwout bearing) needs to be replaced and greased properly.
Sorry to say it's no upgrade parts available, but only a shop that do as best job as possible. After some years, the symptoms will slowly come back again.
