Dick sells Amsoil products. All of their engine oils are relly good and are true synthetics except for the XL, XL7000?, which is a group III base stock. The XL7000 is probably a superior oil to most other group III oils.
If I have the XL name wrong, Dick will correct me.
Getting good real synthetic oils takes some investigation, and cost and conveniece are real issues. Many folks have to have these products shipped to them. Mobil 10W30 is an exception. I have heard that some places now have Mobil 0W40. That would be a good option.
As far as costs go, many who are quite concerned about what oil tht they use, will change it themselves. This offsets the cost of the oil. And the real synthetics don't need to be drained at short intervals, and this also helps offset the greater cost of the oil. Some of the oils will save fuel, which will pay for the incremental costs of better engine oils.
The public is basically been misled into thinking that a product labled 'fully synthetic' is the best oil.
