Yes, the two heater hoses are reported to fail. But mine with 140000 miles looked perfect when I replaced them. So I am convinced that the material in the hoses was changed or the work went to another supplier.
I am still running on my original upper rad hose. It looks perfect.
I replaced my lower rad hose, as required to fit the Viggen IC. That hose was fine. I replaced the small U hose and clamps on the water pump a year ago, as I was replacing the water pump adapter o-rings. It is quite hard to get at, so I did that while the pump was out. I have never had a problem with hoses.
So not all hoses are going to fail, but if you find that one or more hoses have failed or show distress on your vehicle, then I would suspect them all as they may share something in common.
Replace the thermostat.
