The hardest part of fixing the heated seats is getting the seat covers off. There are wire hooks that have to be bent to release it. Take the seats out of the car for this job. Once you have the covers off, you should be able to see where the wire is burnt. It will usually be on the left rear of the driver's seat, and right rear for the passenger's seat. There is a thin layer of foam holding the wire to the seat, which must be peeled up. Then you must cut away the burnt part of the wire, and solder in a new piece of wire. It doesn't have to be special wire, 22-24awg stranded will work.
It is a DIY job, as long as you have a soldering iron and know how to use it.
The switch lamps tell you nothing. They work even if the seat heater isn't working.
