The Saab hose set is joined with a coupler when you get it. I can't see how you could get things reversed.
The heater core will not care, perhaps there could be a mechanical problem with the routing of the hoses or they will wear against each other.
I did mine with floor jacks/stands. If the hose set is connected above first, perhaps that will make the orientation easier. Connect up top, connect and clamp below, return to the top to release any twisting of the hoses then clamp.
