Big vibration at 55-60mph

My 95 900s has 17in rim with 40 series tires. I've been getting a vibration on a steering wheel so I thought my front tires are out of balance. I took in my car to get those front tires a balance. The guy at the store told me one of the rim is warped (I don't know how much it is warped).
I get a bad vibration in front end at 55-60mph, accelerating or braking, but don't get anything under 50mph. I get little vibration over 60mph.
I know for sure that the car needs an alignment but not sure if it will cure or ease the problem.
Do you think the rim is the major cause or the alignment? My car has 100,000 miles on it. Please give me an advice.
