I got my 94 900s back today. It wouldn't start and the catalytic converter was glowing red.
He diagnosed a timing problem. He told me that the previous owner had put in a replacement battery, and that it was too large. The battery case was putting pressure on the distributor cap which caused the rotor to go bad.
I'm not sure how the two are related, (any help?) but I'm ecstatic that it only cost me $150. I was fearing the worst.
So--any rec's on batteries? what is the appropriate case size?
Also, I bought some spark plugs from him to install myself--the local shop can't get NGK's. He gave me BCPR6ES11's. I know this is the right plug for turbo's, but is it ok to use them in the 2.3 NA? My book says to use BCP6EV. I asked him about that, and he said that the EV's were causing fouling, that Saab had changed their recommendation, and that it was better to use those. Was he confused or right?
