You miles are quite low for the age. Mobil 1, just switch. You might add a can of oil treatment that claims to free sticking rings etc, one week prior to the oil drain. This will release some of the dyno oil deposits, and you can drain out the crud. Your first drain of after that can be at 3 months, and 6 nonths after that. Because you have short trips, you need to drain your oil more often as you don't have the distance driving to drive moisture out of your oil. Mobil one is a better libricant, and has a better additive package to protect your engine from the acids that accumulate more with cold engine driving.

As your miles go up you will want to seek out a xxW40 oil which will make a mature engine run quieter and smoother. When that time comes alone, oil offering will have changed. I switched to 5W40 Mobil Delvac One a year ago at ~130,000 miles and love it. I get 6% improved mpg's compared to 10W30 mobil one. So there is more to friction losses than viscosity.

At around 100-110,000 miles I think that you can find a developing engine rear seal engine leak to be a real PIA. I found that Mobil 1 10W30 reduced my rate of leakage quite a bit over the Castrol Faketec(tm) 10W30. So that might be a small comfort.

I suggest that you get the Purolator Pure One filter and change it Once a year, and remove it at six months to drain it somewhat during that oil changes. You will not need to change the filter that often for particulate load. You will be draining the oil to remove the additive depletion that comes with short trips.

I drive 20-25K/yr and and change my oil 3x's per year which is very much overkill.

Your choice of Mobil One is good, most synthetic oils on the market are only called synthetic because of a wildly lamented law suit. Castrol Faktec(tm) and most others are highly hydrocracked (modified) dyno oil. The only true synthetics that I can recall that are widely available are Mobil 1, thats it! For mail order you can get Mobil Delvac 1 5W40, Redline, Amsoil (not the XL7500! and Motuel (spelling wrong on that).
