I went down the same road when buying tires for my 96 900SET. I went with a rim/tire package from Tire Rack and was happy with the price. What ever you do, don't buy the Dunlop DS1 tires as they feel very squirmy. Other than the tire I cannot say anything bad about Tire Rack. I went with the 15" rims for winter potholes.
I just bought tires for my wife's 94 Volvo 850 T5 Turbo wagon and ordered 4 Seperet 205/55-15 tires from TireDirect.com and they came with free shipping and were $64/tire. I am happy with the tire as "lower" profile won't give up in spirited driving and the tread design mimics some of the higher rated Pirelli snow tires and they have the extra lip for rim protector. I have not mounted them, but plan to have this done toward the end of November. I'm mounting these to the stock 16" allows and plan on buying new summer rims in the spring so I do not have to swap winter to summer tires every year. I would be happy to let you know how they ride after they are mounted.
Hope this helps
