O2 & Check Engine Light

I have had problems with the CE light coming on and giving me an O2 sensor code. I was told it is probably not the sensor but a ground problem. The sensor was cleaned and the computer reset. This lasted for two weeks and then the CE light returned. I repeated the process and got the same result. I then had a new Bosch sensor put in and the diagnostics were the same as with the original sensor so my guy put the old one back and in two weeks the light was back on.
At this point I was told that it may be a faulty engine control computer giving an erroneous code. Is this very likely? If yes, what is a good way/price to get a replacement?
Thanks
